Eighteen educators from across Texas received crystal apple awards for their lifetime commitment to education from the College of Education and Human Development at Texas A&M University.
The annual Dean's Roundtable hosted by the college on April 25, 2008, recognizes educators who are role models to their students and peers, mentors for new education professionals, servant leaders in their communities and magnificent examples of what the college hopes its Aggie graduates will become. Over the past 17 years, the Dean's Roundtable has honored more than 250 educators.
This year's recipients from Bryan and College Station include Texas A&M faculty members Danny Ballard and Ben Welch. Local teachers honored include Kay Cannon, David Childers and Bart Taylor.
Houston area recipients include Sam Bass, Mark McNeil, Lynn Millikan, and Audrey Nelson.
Other recipients include John Arevalo of San Antonio, Paula Berger of Yoakum, Kathy Day of Navasota, Susan Klinkovsky of Damon, Elo Nohavitza of Dallas, Grant Simpson of Keller, Nancy Jo Smith of Bellville, Bibs Toney of Plano and Norma Torres-Martinez of Austin.
