Rob Langston, author of For the Children, will be on the Texas A&M University campus on Friday, November 16, 2007, to give two presentations that will serve as the basis for his next book.
Langston, who has dyslexia, will address the challenges faced by students with learning disabilities in order to inspire everyone to rise to their full potential.
The first session, the Action Initiative Program, begins at 9 a.m. in 501 Rudder Tower. The Action Initiative Program is a five-step process developed by Langston to overcome his personal battle with dyslexia. Langston has shared this program with corporate executives for more than 20 years.
The Two Extremes of Dyslexia will begin at 1 p.m. in 501 Rudder Tower. In this afternoon session, Langston shares stories and lessons from working with successful CEOs who overcame their own learning challenges. Langston has worked with Charles Schwab; Paul Orfalea, the founder of Kinko's; and Phil Jacobs of BellSouth. Langston also will discuss lessons learned from working with incarcerated children.
Both sessions are sponsored by the Marilyn Kent Byrne Student Success Center. The Marilyn Kent Byrne Student Success Center provides resources to College of Education and Human Development students in order to help them become successful students leading successful lives.
Each session will last approximately 1.5 hours. Breakfast will be served at the morning session and lunch will be served in the afternoon session. Seating is limited and available on a first come, first served basis. For more information, contact Diane Oswald at doswald@tamu.edu or 979-845-5355.
