The Department of Health & Kinesiology is happy to announce the newest faculty and staff editions to the department:
Faculty
Michael Massett - Assistant Professor
Massett received his doctorate from the University of Iowa. He currently has three ongoing research projects and serves as principal investigator of one of these projects and also has completed two research projects with the American Heart Association and the National Institutes of Health and the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute.
Mary Shaw, Professor
Shaw comes to Texas A&M University from Indiana University, Bloomington, where she held the rank of Associate Professor and served as Co-Director for Minority Health Research with the School of Health, Physical Education, and Recreation. Her research has focused on understanding factors that mediate and moderate health behaviors of African American women and their families.
Pam Doughty - Clinical Assistant Professor
Doughty received her doctorate from Texas Women's University and is CHES certified. She will be teaching coursework in the Health Education program and will supervise Health Education undergraduate student interns.
Michael Sandlin - Clinical Assistant Professor
Sandlin received his doctorate from Texas A&M University. His teaching interests include sport safety and training, and health outreach and prevention education.
Emily Sparvero - Lecturer
Spavero received her doctorate from the University of Texas at Austin. Her teaching interests include sport finance and economics.
Michael Thornton - Clinical Assistant Professor
Thornton received his doctorate from Texas A&M University and has been serving as camp supervisor of Deerfoot Youth Camp and a lecturer for the Physical Education Activities Program. His professional interests include sport administration, health education, coaching, physical education and sport officiating.
Adam Etheridge Barry - Lecturer
Barry received his doctorate from Texas A&M University. Barry has been involved in assisting in preparing alcohol education programs with the Center for Alcohol and Drug Education Studies and has taught and assisted in the development of several classes on drug and alcohol prevention.
Todd Hall - Lecturer
Hall received his doctorate from Texas A&M University in 2008. He has led several consulting a research projects and interned for several regional and national businesses and programs including Visa and sports teams.
August John Campbell - Lecturer
Campbell received his master's from Texas State University. Prior to coming to Texas A&M University, he served as an Athletic Director and has helped develop and design several classes.
Mark White - Lecturer
White received his master's from Texas A&M University. White's experience ranges from his time in the Army where he was in charge of several hundred soldiers as a combat engineer officer to teaching several hundred students health and fitness strength training classes.
Steve Martin - Lecturer
Martin is in the process of completing his doctorate in kinesiology from Texas A&M. His research interests stem from his experiences at area hospitals, wellness centers and physical therapy clinics where he worked in exercise physiology and fitness.
Ann Pool - Lecturer
Pool received her master's from Texas A&M University and previously served as assistant director of the university's athletic career services. With a passion for athletics, Pool has volunteered her time to help with men's tennis, women's soccer and general athletic department events.
Lydia Dubuisson - Lecturer
Dubuisson received her master's in sport management from Texas A&M University. During her professional career, she has been actively involved in both collegiate and high school football programs and taught physical and life sciences at the middle and high school levels. In addition, she has 10 years experience in sports broadcasting, advertising and marketing.
Lorinda Cohen - Lecturer
Cohen received her master's in kinesiology from Texas A&M University and previously served as head coach of the women's 2004-2005 varsity archery team. Her professional interests include sport management and archery.
Joe Dannenbuam - Lecturer
Dannenbaum earned his doctorate from Oklahoma State University. With an extensive teaching, training and research background, he hopes to focus his current research on athletic training, physiology, nutrition and obesity.
