October 2007 Staff Spotlight

Jamie Neff, as facilities coordinator, is responsible for arranging moves of telephone and furniture and for space renovation throughout the college. This would be a big job if it just involved one department; however, her job scope covers three departments, the Dean's Office, the eight floors in Harrington Tower and Heaton Hall, as well as any additional space we acquire. Jamie is required to coordinate these activities with faculty, staff, department heads, deans, physical plant personnel and numerous outside vendors. Besides completing these tasks in a timely and efficient manner, she manages to treat every client as if their request is top priority and to believe they are her only client for the day (or week). Jamie manages to resolve unforeseen complications, deflect pending conflicts and diffuse potential volatile situations. All of this is done with class and a smile and a calming demeanor that masks the fact she is working hard to "keep all the plates spinning." Jamie is truly exemplary of what it means to provide customer service.
