September 2007 Staff Spotlight
Mrs. Jana Crouse has been my office assistant for 18 years during which time she has distinguished herself in innumerable ways. Not only does she perform her secretarial duties with consistency and excellence, but she is also the "face", "voice", and "business manager" behind the FITLIFE Exercise Program, The Applied Exercise Science Laboratory, and the Sydney and J.L. Huffines Institute for Sports Medicine. She is constantly juggling duties associated with these programs and takes the initiative to create solution to problems that arise, all without the need for supervision. She has also proven invaluable in helping me manage the internship program for both the graduate and undergraduate Clinical and Applied Exercise Physiology majors. It is very unusual to have an assistant such as this whom you trust implicitly. Truly, I would be lost without her. Finally, in addition to her job, she assists her three daughters with their careers and helps them raise their children…..including a young boy with Cystic Fibrosis. I can't begin to count the number of times she has escorted this child to the hospital in Houston and stayed with him while he undergoes various treatments, yet, all the while, she manages to keep up with her job duties without missing a beat. She is a unique, remarkable, and wonderful person….and is a "pearl of great price" to her department and to The College of Education at Texas A&M University. I could not imagine anyone is more worthy of this accolade than Jana. |
