The College of Education and Human Development has many individuals and groups with technology expertise. The Technology Council will be a vehicle to increase communication, establish College guidelines, and provide a unified and efficient technology system, sharing this expertise across the College. This group will provide ongoing review and support of the technology strategic plan.
The purpose of the Technology Council is to 1) encourage communication regarding technology issues facing the College; 2) seek input and encourage discussion of technology issues and changes; 3) make informed recommendations regarding technology policies and procedures and on going risk assessment; 4) coordinate requests and needs of the College Community relating to technology, training, and professional development needs; 5) investigate new and cutting edge technologies to propose new technologies for use by the College. The Technology Council will be primary vehicle to update and review the strategic planning document. The Council will be a resource to faculty, staff and students across the College. This group will also encourage and facilitate investigation into new technologies as well as attempt to deal with problems not resolvable by current technology.
Membership of the council would include 12-18 people throughout the College based on position and representative appointments. Working in conjunction with the Council would be 5-6 working groups dealing with topical issues. Additional working groups could be added as needed to accomplish a specific task or work on a specific issue regarding technology.
This totals 18 people if there were six working groups. At any one time a working group leader might already have a position on the Council so the number might be fewer.
Working groups would consist of 6-10 people working together on a specific topical area. Some groups would be ongoing groups meeting 2-3 times per year, while some groups would be established to work for a short period of time on a specific issue.
The Council meets two to three times a semester. Working groups might meet more often to work on specific topics - but otherwise might simply meet once a semester.
Policies or procedures coming from this group would go to the Dean's Council for approval.
